Room of Beads… not when Mama’s TIRED!!!

Okay, so I JUST got back home from a 36.2 mile bike ride (5 hours of riding)… my first bicycle ride in probably a good 10 years and the longest I’ve EVER been on. I came home to play with the pups, let them out, and relax a bit before I head off for a photoshoot this evening. Oh no, I should have known my day would not be THAT easy. So I walk through the door and see “Dixie” standing at the end of the hallway, all excited to see me, well a bit more excited than usual. So I go to the living room to show her some love and then… I see it. I see my two white pups as happy as can be for mama to be home, sitting, wagging their tails all the while these million and one micro-beads are flying ALL over the place! There weren’t just a few covering my ugly tan-ish carpet, there were MILLIONS and MILLIONS, maybe even TRILLIONS!!! Apparently “Max” no longer wanted to see his bed sitting there not being used, so he and “Angel” decided they were going to make a chew toy out of it. They both are so happy mama’s home, but geez… I don’t know what to do with these two sometimes.

What in the world… it’s like he knows he did it but he’s still sticking his tongue out at me. Do you see that?! That’s his tongue!

4th of July at the Lake

So the 4th isn’t just a time for us humans to celebrate our independence, it’s a time for our pups to somewhat celebrate theirs as well. I’m so proud to say my pups know how to swim and I’m sure they’d enjoy the water a bit more if it weren’t freezing (hence the name of the lake).

Here’s “Dixie, “Angel”, and “Max” enjoying a little swim time with daddy at Friess Lake.

“Dixie” got to go the first day b/c the boat wasn’t running… so it was swimming time rather than boating time for her.

“Max” had a good time too, but he was more curious about the fisherman walking up the bank and what the girls were doing on shore.

Imagine my surprise when Kev is letting the dogs inside from a trip out to potty and he’s hollering for me to come see the pups. I get up and run to the kitchen and here comes my white and purple (?!?!) pup running in the house. Yup, that’s right. “Angel” somehow acquired purple spots on her last trip outside. So apparently we have a berry tree out back and little miss “Angel” has discovered it’s a ton of fun to wallow in the berries on the ground. Here she is trying to look like the angel she’s really not.

Dog Pile in Mama’s Office

Okay, so my pups and hubby tend to enjoy snuggling from time to time… especially when mama is working on photos in her office. So here are a few pictures of what a dog pile looks like on mama’s office love-seat. Disclaimer: It’s tough trying not to move, grab your camera from your bag, and shoot with a heavy camera backwards, over your shoulder… so don’t hold the crappy quality against me, haha.

Pool Night with the Pups

Here is “Max” enjoying the pool and learning how to submerge his face in the water to collect bones on the bottom of the pool. It’s funny b/c the girls would not put their faces under water. The girls loved it when I put a floating duck in the water since they grabbed it, but would not grab the bones.

It was getting too dark outside and my camera does not take great video in low-lighting so it’s hard to tell who is who and what is what. “Max” is the one in the water and “Angel” is the one wandering around the pool waiting on “Max” to pick up the bone so she can take it from his mouth. Just like a woman… letting the man do all the work just to profit from it, haha.

Tired Pups… Not so Much

After a 2 mile jog around the neighborhood I figured the pups would be tired. It seems “Angel” was just not as tired as “Dixie” (she got tired halfway through our jog). I let “Angel” and “Dixie” outside to use the bathroom, and no sooner than I let them out the door, they both took off and darted off the back porch. I noticed what they were running for and knew “Angel” wouldn’t make it very far b/c the line just wouldn’t reach, but I was completely shocked when she didn’t stop running. The rabbit hopped left, then right, and then hopped it’s little self as fast as it could away from “Dixie” and “Angel”.

Needless to say, nothing stands between “Angel” and a rabbit….

…except for a fence that she can’t figure out how to get around!

I love it when these pups give me the laugh I’ve been needing all day!

Dr. Pepper

When the house gets quiet, they’ve gotten into something. So I’m sitting here at the computer working on some photos and it’s oddly quiet in the living room. When I get up to see what’s going on, I find a bottle cap in the living room, and then I find this…

Yes, her tongue is in the bottom and she’s trying with all her might to get a sip.

“Angel” is drinking while “Max” is helping mama by cleaning the carpet.

They drank/spilt over half of the bottle!

This is what happens when a human (I’m not naming any names, but it wasn’t me) leaves bottles in reach of the pups. I reckon I’m not the only one in the household that loves Dr. Pepper.

Update:

The best part of this whole thing… is that while all of this was going on, Kev was asleep. So what does he do when he gets up and goes out for a smoke?

Sure enough… he grabs the bottle of Dr. Pepper sitting in the kitchen and starts drinking it. EWWW! lol

Visit with a Little Person

So there they were, minding their own business when a little person entered the house. “Max” and “Angel” couldn’t contain themselves, so they had to stay in their room (we’re still working on their jumping… we need them to be able to do it on command, not just when they want to).

Poor “Max”:

After “Dixie” realized there was a little person in the house, she was completely amused. The little person cried and cried and “Dixie” was so concerned about him, she just sat there watching him the entire time.

Loving 75!

It’s the first day of the year where it’s been a nice 75 degrees all day long and boy are the dogs liking it! “Dixie”, “Angel”, and “Max” all went for a nice long walk this afternoon, and though they’re a handful, they did great together. The best part of the walk was on our last leg… We were almost home and “Dixie” decided to do her business in the yard of the crabbiest man in the neighborhood. This guy has told me before, that if my dogs ever did their business in his yard, and I did not pick it up, he’d make sure it ended up on my door-step. So of course, this is the yard “Dixie” decided to leave her mark in. Though I bagged it, I figure he was inside watching and just grumbling to himself. Hehe, dogs know these things.

They sure were tired when we got home, but of course, “Angel” wouldn’t let anyone take a break… she’s still going!

Almost 3 Months Later

In the almost 3 months we’ve had our new little, shall I say big, family together, there have been quite a few events that’s taken place. Let’s recap…

On January 14th, as my husband lie asleep on the couch, unknowingly his cell phone was being eaten/chewed to shreds, by three mischievous pups.

Of course, the next day they’re back to being cuties and looking as precious as ever!

On January 31st, “Max” decided he wanted to go for a little run around the neighborhood. So, as “Dixie” was outside using the rest room, he somehow managed to open the not so closed door and took off. Needless to say I spent an hour or more searching the neighborhood for my missing boy. I was so worried he ran quite a ways away, I jumped in my car and drove around town looking for him. Luckily he had found a few pit-bull friends in the neighborhood that he wanted to try and play with. I got a phone call from their owner saying she thought she’d found my Mr. “Max” and that he was content in hanging out with her pups, but that I’d probably like to have him back. So I jumped in my car to find her address, and finally picked up my pup, of whom was dressed in a cozy little jacket in the freezing cold weather. And now we know “Max” knows how to open doors. (No pics for this incident since I was too worried to grab my camera on my way out the door.)

On February 8th “Max” decided his dog food just wasn’t good enough for him, and he wanted some spaghetti. So you probably guessed it… He took a dive into the trash can and began eating spaghetti. He thought we’d never notice, however, the evidence was all over his face.

On February 17th, I stepped out my front door to sign for a package, and well, the dogs slammed the door behind me and locked me out. The UPS guy laughed, lady I was on the phone with giggled, and I began banging on the door. Thankfully the dogs started barking, and Kev took off his headphones to see what the commotion was about, or else I would have froze standing outside with no shoes/jacket on. These dogs sure do have some talent! (No pics for this incident, since they surprised me by locking me out!)

On February 23rd “Angel” went in for her spay, and was still her excited self when I picked her up that afternoon. It was tough keeping the three separated for almost a week, but they survived and were back to playing and snuggling soon there after.

On March 1st, I solved the mystery of the missing socks. Now this mystery is not specific to just our home. Many Americans deal with this mystery everyday. Except in my household the mystery was solved by simply checking the #2 piles in the backyard. YUCK! That’s not something you want to come across while doing poop cleanup! (No pics were taken of this, as that is not something I’d like to see more than once!)

By this point mom needed a break, so I took a trip to Las Vegas for a photography convention (it was a business trip, not for leisure). While there Kev called to tell me that my little angels were just that, and did nothing wrong. RIGHT! The truth is, they tore into “Max’s” bed and covered the dog room in a million or more micro-beads. You know… those teeny-tiny white beads that stick to everything and never go away. Yea, those were them. Kev said there were so many in the floor you couldn’t even see carpet (I know it couldn’t have been that bad, after all the bed still had some left in it, but I’m sure it was bad enough.). To make things better, the vacuum cleaner had broken down on me only a day before I left for Vegas, so Kev was left to attempt to rid the room of the million or more micro-beads that covered the floor with a broken vacuum. (I only wish I had photos of the floor and of him attempting to clean it. Boy would that have been a sight to see!)

On March 13th (after my return from Vegas) our pups, and Kev, discovered the joys of a laser pointer. Boy were all four of them going nuts over this small toy. As Kev would point the toy in several directions at once, all I heard were tags jingling, the pitter-patter of paws on the floor, and crashing sounds on the walls from time-to-time.

Sometime the week of my return from a photography convention, I discovered the the leashes of the dog’s training collars were eaten. There is definitely something wrong with this picture:

On March 19th, the pups tried to put me in the hospital. No, not really, but I swear it almost happened! We were all playing upstairs in the bedroom, and they began wrestling around on the bed. So in an attempt to break up the wrestling and continue playing with them, I jumped/fell into the bed, and somehow managed to slam my head against the wall. Talk about neck and back pain!

On March 21st (they don’t give me a break), after my morning email ritual, I discovered a few red feathers in the hallway. I followed the trail into the dog room to discover this:

Talk about sneaky little pups, thought they probably thought they were just helping. You see, the red debris you see lying on the floor is actually feathers, from a feather boa I brought back from Vegas. Did I have this lying on the couch, on the floor, or anywhere I thought the dogs would find it? NO. This boa was tucked away in my suit case (of which I was being lazy and had not unpacked yet, but that’s not the point), and I reckon the dogs found it and decided to help me unpack. Needless to say, this mess took me quite a while to clean up, so I stopped in the middle of my cleaning and had a photo-op with the pups.

On March 25th, Kev and I took a wonderful jog around the neighborhood, however it was not at our own free will. As I was attempting to unhook “Dixie” and let her inside, both “Max” and “Angel” pushed the door open and took off for a little run, almost breaking my arm as I tried to reach for them. As I wrote on my Facebook page, I have never been so worried about these pups. I was standing in the middle of school traffic, trying to keep them from running into the street, all the while “Max” was challenging me and wanting to give me a heart attack. Thankfully “Angel” came right to us after she was done chasing “Max” and come to find out, all “Max” wanted to do was play chase. I started running and he started chasing me. Geez Louise! These dogs are going to be the death of me.
